User Persona
Paola is a university student who transferred universities this summer. Along with her transfer, she also decided to change majors, attending CETYS University in hopes of truly finding her calling. She's a very dedicated and responsible young lady. Back then, with her former university’s student portal she used to have a difficult time trying to figure out how to work things out and do simple tasks such as choosing her schedule, completing payments, and trying to find her academic record. With CETYS University she’s really hoping that the administration manages to worry about their students’ needs and makes it easy for them to navigate the site, giving her a better college experience.

Investigating the Problem
After interviewing several students, parents of students, and members of the faculty who have access to the portal I came to the conclusion that there’s several aspects in both the UX and UI that require some work.

The UX
One of the first things that all users told me is that the website should have a better informational hierarchy and that it looks disorganized. There’s several links all around the site that lead to nowhere. The menu is very confusing and hard to navigate and the placement makes no sense.
Additionally, there’s no easy way to understand how payments work. Finally, there’s a button that helps resize the website but when you could discard it and make it responsive.

The UI
The main thing all of the users interviewed pointed out is that the website looks outdated and unprofessional. The spacing of the elements makes the experience confusing. In the academic history page, the tables need to be well defined. They think that it overall should look cleaner and better aligned. Most of them declared that it should be modernized and visually easier to understand when it comes to its UI elements, more specifically the coloring.
